I played it for the first time for about 45 minutes... OH MY is it fast paced. I survived to reach the first safe room. I used the machine gun for the first 25% then ran out of ammo and switched to dual pistols and liked that better.

Is L4D in any good packs?

Yes but... It's a stand alone or in the Valve Complete Pack for $99.99. However, after Monday you CAN buy multi-packs to lower the per cost. Find some friends and grab a 4-pack for $120 ($30 per). Right now L4D is $24 so the multi-pack is a waste.
