dual boot vista x32 & xp x64 - is this possible ??

edited May 2009 in Science & Tech
I have a Dell xps 720 with a vista x32 OS. I want to add XPx64professional to allow me to run older CAD programs and allow me the 8GB of ram that my system can support.

I have shrunk the C: drive to make room for the second boot system on the drive, but when I try to load XPx64 form the disk it appears to load but before it can startup I get the blue screen of daeth with the following error message. 0x0000007B...

In checking on line it says to check for viruses, i have done this and the system is clean.

Can this be done ?? or am I just dreaming ??

Windows XP needs to be installed first on the first partition, then Vista on the second.
