Erratic internet and browser behavior

I normally keep my PC nice and clean, but I started having problems after working in a new office and using a portable drive between several worker's laptops. My laptop has AVG 8, Zone Alarm, and once in a while I scan it with Spybot S&D. But now it definitely seems the laptop has a problem.

Here are the symptoms and then the HJT file:

- clicking on yahoo search results are being redirected to random sites.
- often can only access the home page on yahoo (via IE or Firefox) and then all links on the home page are non-responsive.
- typing in the search field on yahoo behave erratically, sometimes the cursor arrows keys don't work, or the apostrophe (') key doesn't work, and often the typing is verrrrry slow as in 10 seconds to type in "internet problem".
- unable to access my Hotmail inbox page (windows live mail). It looks like it's going there, but then then it just hangs on a blank page.
- unable to update AVG anti virus virus definitions files
- very slow internet response
- firefox or IE taking up unusually large amounts of CPU, running at 80-95% even when not doing anything, just sitting on the yahoo home page.
- a bunch of other little nice qwerks and things that I can't recall right now

I have run AVG scanner and Spybot scanner and they don't really find anything other than some tracking cookies. Not sure if that is a concern or not.

So, this needs some serious expertise to solve. I have attached the HJT log below. Look forward to hearing some recommendations........

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

• Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
• then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
• If requested, please reboot
  
  • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Download and Run RSIT

• Please download Random's System Information Tool by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
• Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
• Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
• Once it has finished, two logs will open:
  
  • log.txt will be opened maximized.
  • info.txt will be opened minimized.
• Please post the contents of both log.txt and info.txt.
