Windows Vista vs (Recovered) at boot menu

Someone's PC was booting only to a black screen with a blinking cursor.

After several attempts the startup recovery tool on the Vista (OEM) disk eventually worked and the PC booted up again.

Now I am presented with Windows Vista or (Recovered) at the boot menu. The default being (Recovered).

I tried this, and Windows Vista - both appear identical, so how can I tell the difference between them, or could there be no difference?!

I can see from msconfig how to remove this choice for the user, but I want to know which to remove! - Any tips?!

Look for 2 folders that have the Windows files in them.

Do you have C:\Windows and C:\whatfoldernameidontknow that both have Windows system files in them?
