running a switch off a router....

OK, I'm sure it's been asked but I couldn't find specifics...
I have my 4port wireless router right now. I want to take my computers and TiVo's off the wireless and have them all wired. Due to moving the TV's around once and a while a couple rooms will have multiple wall plugs. SOOO... I take the 4 ports off my wireless router and put #1 to an 8 port Switch, and #2,3&4 to my 3 computers then the 8port switch will have various ports going to the wall plugs where the TiVo's will plug into. Being that some of the wall plugs will not be used all the time and the TiVo's pluged into others off the 8 port switch and the computers plugged directly into the Router will they all communicate OK or do I need to have the router go to the switch then everything else plug into the switch? I didn't know if it mattered if they plugged into the switch or directly into the router? I'm not a novice really but I'm not an expert either and I'm not super smart on the networking stuff.
If it's too complicated I can draw a diagram or something Basically I have 3 computers and 3 TiVo's but three of the rooms get moved around a bit (the wife can't stand to have things in the same position apparently ) so instead of running cord I was going to put a lan wall outlet on two walls in all three rooms that get moved around. Then the plugs will be there but only one in each room will get used at any given time. So basically 3 computers, 3 TiVo's and 3 unused wall plugs all running from the same router-switch combo.

I run a 24 port switch connected to my router.. no issues. You can use the router ports or the switch ports interchangeably.
TV... cable tv.
It's old and starting to be bad quality so I'm replacing it with new stuff and since I'll be sweating my arse off in the Attic I figured I'd run the network cable to each room with the coax and put it in a dual wall plate, one for cable and one network plug.
