When online gaming my sound studders like a machine gun with the screen freezing for about 5 to 8 seconds. When it unfreezes i usally find myself dead. This happens about once every 30 seconds and sometimes gradually stops. VERY frustrating. Makes me want to chunk something, lol. Onboard realtek sound. Drivers updated...no help. Windows XP Home, MSI neo platium, 2 gigs ram, 3700+ athlon, the game is Call of Duty 4. I did some research online and see similar problems but no solutions....Any Help?

I had this problem yesterday and once I restarted the problem went away.

But if that didn't work, I'd have to say the sound is not the problem you should be looking at. You hear the sound repeat itself because of your system locking up and all the computer is doing is repeating the last sound until told to stop. (Which there is none because the system is locked up meaning no stop command).

In my experience, it usually turns out to be the cpu holding everything up. Check your CPU temperature and turn off any program besides the game and see if that helps.

I had this exact problem on my Laptop, inadequate video. This also happens to me on my current rig if I forget to turn off GPU Folding before I play. Both based on TF2 and L4D.

On board video? If not, do ya have F@H (or anything else) running on your Vid card processor?
