This will be a great event. I have been at all the previous S-M and Icrontic LANs and participated in the gaming at each. I’ve had some firsthand experience in what has worked well and been exciting in the past, as well as what has not.

L4D is a new game we have never had at the event before, so it will be a bit of a learning experience as to how this game works in our LAN environment, but I think this plan will run smoothly

UT2k4 is a classic, and has been the main event at every LAN. If it aint broke don’t fix it. The way we organize this event has worked through the years and for the most part is unchanged.

TF2 made its first appearance at ICLAN08 and in tournament form, to sum it up, was a fail. However, many agree that the large pick-up matches resulted in some of the best experiences of the LAN. With that in mind I tried to make the actual tournament work much like a pick-up game.

I put a lot of thought into this, but this is my first time trying to organize an event like this. So, please suggest any changes you feel would improve or make this plan run better.

Thursday June 24: Left 4 Dead
The main event will be double elimination Versus play. A coin toss at the beginning of the match will determine if the team plays as infected or survivors. Map selection will be random at the beginning of each round but kept consistent for every match in a round. The only team at the end with one or less losses wins.

The second (optional) event, granted time permits, will be a time trial on medium difficulty. Each team will "race" through the map as fast as possible. No other rules. Team or that completes the map with the lowest time wins.

Teams for these events are being predetermined, so if you are not yet on a team head over here to check out the teams and get yourself on one.

Friday June 25: Unreal Tournament 2004 Tournament
The tournament will be Team Death match style play with Teams of 5-6 depending on final participation. The event will be double elimination. Maps will be random for each round, and will be from the default map pack, no mods. No specials such as low gravity or big heads unless they are built into the map such as Morpheus. Teams will be selected in dodge ball style, and captains will be requested to volunteer based on their own skill level(excellent players know who they are) to prevent horribly unbalanced teams. Only team with one or less losses at the end wins.

Please sign in here if you plan to particepate in this event.

Saturday June 26: Team Fortress 2
Red vs. Blue. All participants will be randomly assigned to either team and will play against each other on point defense, cart pushing (single), point capture, cart pushing (double), and intel cap. In point defense and cart pushing (single), a coin toss will decide who defends for the round in point capture, cart pushing (double) and intel cap it will be best of 3 on the map. Best of 5 event where whichever team wins 3 events first wins.

Please sign in here if you plan to particepate in this event.

//EDIT// We're gettin close to haveing too many people for one server so this may have to be designed into an elimination trounament with teams of 11-12. We'll see how many more people sign up.

Other Gaming Events: BF2, WC3, CoD, …. WoW
We have a whole week to enjoy, and only 3 main event gaming tournaments. Prizes will be raffled off from gaming event raffle tickets so we want to give you as many opportunities to get them as possible. Anyone has a power to organize an event and make it eligible for raffle ticket prizes. All, you have to do is pick a game, define the rules, get at least 6 others to participate, and get it approved by a staff member.

For clarification, once teams are randomly assigned for the tournament, they stay the same, correct? Or will every round have new teams?

Also for more clarification in L4D. When you say "no other rules" does that mean that So long as ONE person survives fastest they'll win? Or is it a whole team effort?

No other rules, as long as you get someone in there.

I'm liking what is going on here.

TF2 pickup game = Much more fun, much less time picking teams, much more trash talking!

Last year it seemed like it took longer to pick TF2 teams than actually playing the matches.

Seems interesting. I can see some strange strategy happening here.

I can't. Getting 1 survivor to the end is a happy accident, not a sound strategy.

Maybe on higher difficulties, but Medium doesn't strike me as a happy accident.

So, you think this should be done on hard?

Medium should be fine for a time trial, especially since this is an event reserved for "if there's enough time left". Save the higher difficulty levels for a tiebreaker.

Anyone like some straight up HL2 DM from time to time?

A lot of people play deathmatch, and at one time we did have an official deathmatch event but for the sake of time there isnt an official one. I, and i am sure many others, would be down for a deathmatch tournament whenever we can fit it in.

No, but I think it'll add a chance to really see them fly by.
