Does anyone know how to remove embeded artwork from MP3s?

I have just got some new Pioneer CDJ400 cd decks which read from USB Memory Sticks. However some of the files wont read. I have read on some forums that it may be due to the artwork that media player etc download and embed in the files. Can anyone help?

Cheers

Rich

Just change the ID Tag to version 1.0 that'll strip out all the artwork.

Can you explain how I would do that please? I have a few audio apps installed such as DB Poweramp and that has added an ID3 tag tab to the properties box.

Most apps should be able to specify the ID 3 tag type version 1 - version 3. ID tage 1 is the most basic it stores very little info in the ID Tag Version 3 stores lots, including pictures and song lyrics if you want. Generally you click on the properties for the mp3 in whatever program your using and then you should be able to edit the tag and spec what version you want. I can't be much more specific then that because every program is different.

I personally just use itunes I batch select a bunch of files right click and choose convert ID3 Tag and pick a level.

does that mean that different apps can use different id tags for the same file? ie media player uses ver 3 and i tunes uses v1?

Ive got this sorted now. I found a very handy tool here which checks and fixes any mp3 errors. Loads of my files would hapily play but it still found errors and fixed them all.

All the files now play. Thanks for your help.

No once you give an MP3 file a specific tag that's the tag for that mp3 file. So if you use itunes to give them ver 1 tags, then they'll still have version one tags in WinAmp. If you then change them to ver 2 tags in WinAmp they'll still have ver 2 tags when played back in itunes. Etc...

Where it gets picky is that some older mp3 players only recognize certain versions of ID tags. Generally they are backwards comp so if it can play ver 3 it'll play all the way back to ver 1. However older players that only can read ver 1 tags won't be able to play mp3's with version 3 tags
