Despite having absolutely no practical need for a six core CPU, now I kinda want one.

Sounds like a Phenom II X4 only NOW WITH 50% MORE CORE!

    LOL Buddy J.

I have to give it to AMD, they have been coming out with new releases left and right. Also them buying ATI is really paying off now with name recognition. A new CPU is released and you see the name AMD on the tech site. A new video card and the same deal. Since they seem to leapfrog their releases they are really getting the AMD name out there. At least with the techie crowed.

This will be great for LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project) servers. Imagine university computer labs with a bunch of thin clients, all hooked up to a 24-core Istanbul server. Now that would be not just impressive, but a heck of a cost savings. Come to think of it, it'd be great for K-12 as well!

GNU/Linux already rocks the house. This new AMD hardware will just make it even better and better.
