I was looking for an app that could display the weather and maybe upcoming weather for where I live. But Im looking for one that doesnt have tons of spyware and isnt loaded with adds.

I've had this problem myself but found another way, I wrench myself away from the PC and look out the window, never fails, and the weather is always correct.

I do not know of a decent client app for windows other than the paid version of WeatherBug, in the US.

However, weather for now and long term is easy to get:

go to

http://www.noaa.gov/

Type in your zip code in local weather finding box. Fast server, long range forecast is about 1 week on average, with links to things like sat photos, storm advisories, etc. NO ADS. Public access. Neat.

In my area, the local county airport provides info fro the noaa results on my zip results. You can bookmark the local weather page for your zip, it will show up current. Nearest decent weather TV station and radio stations are 200 miles north of me, and I get better and more accurate weather faster off of NOAA than anything, sans ads.

Use coolmon. It can do something like this. :)

edit: You have to download and configure the weather script for your location. I think the script captures the long range forecast as well. If not, I can recode it.

NOAA shows 7 days, but starts with current day. It refreshes faster than Weatherbug does on my computer. One sec....

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/forecasts/FLZ062.php?warncounty=FLC015&city=Punta+Gorda

Link I bookmark in opera, about 1 sec load time on broadband.

Come on, you can hit a web page.
The National Weather Service does a great job.
If you need pretty maps use Intellicast.

Coolmon - http://coolmon.arsware.org/
NOAA Script w/ 7 day forecast - http://coolmon.arsware.org/extensions/extension.php?id=145

Pretty simple.

Bud, something else you might want to think of is Sysmetrix. I personally like it better than Coolmon. It's found here:

http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/index.html

You can find a TON of really awesome skins here:

http://www.skinbase.org/section.php?sections=sysmetrix

It does much more than Coolmon, but does have some options that are different. It can do the weather, email, trash bin, shortcuts, Winamp, Temp/Voltage monitors, and much more. I included some skin pics as examples. I personally liked the L shaped one. It comes with Rainlendar which is a neat little graphical calendar as well.

you need to open up the file and edit it as follows:
NOAAurl = "http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/forecasts/WAZ007.php?warncounty=WAC033&city=Seattle"
' your local URL
' Go to http:\\www.noaa.gov and enter you zipcode/city,st into the search box.
' Copy the local URL from your browser to this variable.

mpath = "NOAA.txt" ' path to main output file, contains: current, images, and solar sections

glance = "y"                ' get "Forecast at a Glance" (y/n)
gpath = "NOAAglance.txt" ' this forecast is of variable size so it has it's own output file

detailed = "y"              ' get "Detailed 7-day Forecast" (y/n)
dpath = "NOAAdetailed.txt" ' this forecast is of variable size so it also has it's own output file

images = "y" ' get "Radar and Satellite Images" (y/n)

solar = "y"                 ' get space weather :) (y/n)

save the script in the coolmon folder.
run the script with your local city settings.
it should create a file.
open the coolmon config, and pull certain lines from the file.

I've been using WeatherWatcher for some time now. I like it a lot. Shows the current temp, on the bottom of the screen, but open it, and it shows up to a week in advance. Weather seems pretty accurate also!
