Wireless Keyboard overclocking

I just picked up a Logitech wireless keyboard (Cordless Freedom), and I was wondering if there is any way to increase its range. It claims to have a 6ft working radius, but in actuality, its more like 3ft. Any ideas?

    Thanks tho.

well, its RF, so it shouldnt be, altough it does seem to be directional.

I know, i have the mx combo myself, and RF is affected by line of sight, not as much as say, an IR LED, but it's still part of the electromagnetic spectrum (i.e. light, and the like), so line of sight and distortion (speakers anyone?) are factors

Well, RF has to have an antenna oriented somewhat inline with signal path, for that kind of thing. These are like an AM radio, you can change receiving signal quality by changing where radio pointsd if antenna is builtin.

My MX700 is same, put receiver\charger RIGHT next to modem (cable, standing vertically, or next to laser, or on top of old monitor, bad results. But, 3" inch from cable modem, 2 feet+ below laser, using LCD, the receiver is now behind my right shoulder and mouse works fine (a tib too fast, actually) from 4 feet away from receiver and oriented about 90 degrees clockwise from receiver. If I put receiver\charger next to headphones or dialup or faxing modem, with modem on reciever and mouse will not even sync reliably.

Yes, receiver stays away from speakers, analog external modems, laserprinters, anything with a high EMI\RFI field in it. Anything that does analog-to-digital conversion inside it is not a good thing for a receiver to be near for the MX combo, MX500, Microsoft wireless (RF or bluetooth), or MX700.

There is one trick not most folks know about these logitech wireless RF things.... If you change batteries on them, there is an easy way to activate link and a hard way. EASY way is to look on bottom of mouse and front of receiver, there are buttons labelled connect. Press reciver connect first, then the one on bottom of whatever you want to connect to it (keyboard or mouse). Receiver light will blink as reciver seeks (3-10 seconds), stay solid green for 20-30 seconds when linked, and then go out.

HARD way is to play with whatever is sending for 2-5 min or so, it will activate receiver with activity if in range.

    John.
