Here is the kicker...I just bought a Hanns 221...and love it...had to buy it because i bought a 20"princeton bout 6mths ago that went out on me....GRRRR...

Well the Prineton started working again so i hooked it up to my XBOX 360 and got spoiled...so now that i treated the wife good for her anniversary...Hubby gets a new toy for his XBOX....lol
I am typing on a Hanns...and its awsome..but i hear so much about these Acers....

I actually have the X223WBD. From the factory it has a very nasty red tint.. Its very bright, but the panel is only back-lit at the bottom. You will need to adjust its brightness once you're in your normal sitting position, otherwise the evenness of the luminosity will be all messed up.

It's not a color-accurate monitor, but it can be very vibrant with adjustment.

I would say go with the Hanns-G... I've used both acer and hanns-g monitors at work. I'm not impressed with the acer ones. Unfortunately the only 24" LCDs they purchase around here are acers so I'm stuck with them unless I want to go with 22" monitors (which I don't, need all the screen real estate I can get). Of course if I were actually going to recommend one monitor above all others, I'd tell you to get a Samsung. I have one at home that is amazing. 2ms response time, beautiful color reproduction, plenty bright.... of course it did set me back about 240 dollars.... but IMO it was totally worth the money.
