To build a new rig around AM3 and DDR3?

I thought I should move to a new thread since I've gotten some good advice on the last one. My dilemma now would be to build a new comp around an AM3 mobo, DDR3 and Phenom II or to stick with the original plan - the DFI board, DDR2 and E8400 processor. The prices have really dropped on DDR3 and AM3 boards (even though they're still rare here) so is it a better option? My priorities are still surfing, watching movies, downloading music, occasionally gaming. I've made up my mind on most of the components but any new suggestions are welcome. So, how do these two setups compare? Any other recommendations?

Either one will serve you fine. Or put another differently, you cannot go wrong either way.

Both systems are good. I'd go with the AM3 system for an extra core.

I agree specs on both look good. Personally though I'd go for the AM3 system but get a Phenom II X4 instead of X3. That's just me though.

You are not alone :) I said in the previous thread that I would also get a PII 810 over 720.

About the graphics, the Sapphire card i was considering has a dual slot fansink and I've read somewhere that it can get pretty loud. Is this a better option - Sapphire Vapor-X ATI HD4850 1GB HDMI/DVI/LITE 11132-40-20R?
