Hi,
My laptop is an HP DV8000 and it has a problem: It has 10 thin vertical lines of color (orange, blue, white...) and one large (4") vertical line of silver on the screen.
How can I fix this problem?
Thank You,
Nguyen

Sounds to me like:
1) A bad LCD Panel.
2) A bad Panel Cable.
Most likely its the LCD Panel that's bad and you'll have to replace it. (The wide white band is a big give away for a cracked panel.)
You can try checking the connections between the screen and the mainboard to see if the lines change, then it's possibly the cable but I doubt it.
