Did you install through WUBI or an actual install?

The new Ubuntu only installs through Wubi if you install it through Windows. If you installed Ubuntu by booting the live CD and installing then you probably now have an actual Ubuntu install on it's own partition, an Ubuntu Wubi install and your Vista install.

The Wubi-based install should only show up in the Vista bootloader, though; GRUB should only show one Ubuntu and one Windows booter, I think... unless it managed to detect your other Ubuntu installation at configuration time.

If so, you'll have to uninstall the other Ubuntu and reinstall or reconfigure GRUB, most likely.

I believe that the Ubuntu bootloader copies anything that's in the Windows bootloader. Not positive on that. The other possibility is that it's just displaying two different Ubuntu kernels. Any time there's a kernel update the new kernel is listed in the bootloader as well as the old kernel unless you remove the old kernel (disclaimer: which is in no way necessary and you shouldn't do it if you don't know what you're doing)

My Ubuntu 9.04 was showed two kernels as well as the Vista (bootloader) since the update...

I just removed the earlier one...

Get a copy of Startup Manager as well... sudo apt-get install startupmanager

Good for when you want to set default boot etc...
