Ok folks.. need to do a quick template change and update some files. Doing this requires me to remove access to the forums for 10 minutes.

It's 8.10pm here in the UK, so Im throwing the switch in 20 minutes :) (8.30pm GMT).

The forums won't be out for long :D Literally 10 minutes! OK.. NO PANIC!

    Change looks great!

    Much cleaner design . . . amazing how a couple small changes can make such a difference.

    Good job!

    Not being an ass or anything but that big black line around the add on the forums looks damn ugly.

    Yeah, He's right, you can do something about that. You could keep it a clean even border all around or something.

    Hey, when is vBulletin 3 supposed to be out?

    Minimum 6-8 weeks. There is a private beta available to subscribers which I am testing thoroughly. It's not safe to use in a production environment necessarily.

    Im personally going to wait for the gold code and full public release before even considering that upgrade. Plus, hacks and styles will need to be implemented first :)

    The Problem:
    <td width="420" height="150" rowspan="2 bgcolor="#F1F1F1"><img src="http://www.short-media.com/forum/images/ad.png"&gt;

    Your cell size is specified, which would be alright BUT if I make my window really skinny and tall, the Hot Threads & News links have to span over multiple lines. This makes the Table taller, and because the Table BG is black, it fills in the area that your Ad cell does not.

    Solution:
    <td width="420" rowspan="2" bgcolor="#F1F1F1"><img src="http://www.short-media.com/forum/images/ad.png"&gt;

    Simply remove the height of the Ad cell and presto!

    Shortcut:

    Just add a missing quote... and it works the same (In IE anyways)...

    Wrong:
    <td width="420" height="150" rowspan="2 bgcolor="#F1F1F1"><img src="http://www.short-media.com/forum/images/ad.png"&gt;

    Right:
    <td width="420" height="150" rowspan="2" bgcolor="#F1F1F1"><img src="http://www.short-media.com/forum/images/ad.png"&gt;

    Got a few more touches to do in the next few weeks. It's all part of the growing process :)

    As long as the frontpage is crammed with information and the forums are fast & highly usable, it can only get better :) Striving for it :cool:
