internet sharing a pc with usb wireless

edited July 2009 in Science & Tech
i've got my main pc running windows xp pro connecting to the internet via Wireless USB... (to Wireless Modem in another room) which has an unused Enthernet port

now i'm setting up another PC (Windows XP + 1 Ethernet Port) and i want it to connect to the net as well... is it possible to get an internet sharing by just connecting my new PC to the current one via Ethernet? if so how can i configure the USB Wireless to be Internet Sharing ready?

cheers for any help

First if you are connecting two pc's to each other directly and not through a hub then you likely need a crossover connection as most pc's don't have auto sensing network cards.

Then you'll have to hard code an IP onto the PC so that it's within the same network range as your main PC. Once that's done you turn network sharing on and I think that's it (been awhile).

If you just want both computers to have Internet connection, and one is connected wirelessly already, the easiest way to go would seem putting a wireless card in the other as well - if it doesn't have one already. You can get a perfectly good wireless card for these kind of purposes for around $10.
