Uh-oh...cannot boot from a CD...!
Hey uh roPawn here,
Sorry to bother you are, but I am fairly new here...and I am not entirely sure if I posted this in the right section. So basically, my desktop computer failed hard at some point, and was due for a long-overdue reformatting. So, I decided to pop-in the CD, and boot from it, when I start up the PC. I have this MDG computer...and I can provide specs if needed.
Anyway, I mash the 'delete' button, and the BIOS pops up. I navigate my way to the 'Boot' menu, and then the 'Boot Device Priority'. I have like three options at this point: '1st Boot Device', '2nd Boot Device', and '3rd Boot Device'. I select the first boot drive, and look for something with 'SM' in the title. I could not find that, and my options were: '1st FLOPPY DRIVE', 'PM-WDC WD800BB-00CAA1', and, 'PS-SONY DVD RW DRU-'. They are in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Boot Devices respectively.
I tried the closest thing in the first device, which was that 'PM' thing. I saved, and then exited...waited for a miracle...but nothing happened. I tjust continued to boot normally. I would really appreciate some help, this is like the first time I am reformatting on this machine. And as you can probably tell, it is fairly old...seeing as it still has a floppy-drive. Thanks a lot, everyone!

You're doing it correctly.
1st FLOPPY DRIVE = self explanatory
PM = Primary Master. WDC = Western Digital Corporation. WD800BB = the model of your hard drive. Therefore, the PM-WDC is your hard drive.
Last is the Sony DVD drive.
To boot off the CD, you need to make PS-SONY DVD 1st and PM-WDC 2nd.
EDIT: You too, primesuspect.
