dell dimension 8400

Hello I have a dell 8400 pc using xp home edition. I have no sound for my pc at all, checked all the usual things but cannot get any help at all. I have the discs i think but i am really unsure what to do....

any help please????:wink:

    Okay since I don't know what you mean by "usual things" I would do the followings first.

    - Check speakers, if they are powered on, switched on, and work with another sound source, if they are okay reconnect and go to second step
    - Check if your sound mixer controls volume level in the OS is not all the way down and/or muted
    - Check in device manager if the sound driver is running okay, reinstall the drivers if not
    - If sound problem is specific to a certain program such as tv tuner software, make sure the sound output and input settings are correct.
