I would also recommend blackvipers site. I used it and just disabling Windows Themes saved me so much resources.

This guide was just updated last week and is fairly comprehensive. There are also 3 WinXP guides (or more) on www.tweaktown.com (look under 'Articles' then search by year 2002) that I use religiously with every new install. Not that I employ all their tweaks, it would take a week, but the speed up stuff all works.

Am I the only one that had problems with Bootvis? I used it based on a Maximum PC article and my computer would just hang at startup.

    Gobbles,
Sounds like I got an Amen on that one! :p When I could get it to work correctly, I never even noticed a difference.

Never messed with bootvis but tried most all of the other speedup tips in that rag Preacher. Yeah, I subscribe too. Gonna win that Mod contest one day! ;)

    Agreed.

I tried turning off unneeded services and it saved me, roughly a massive, 600k. Not worth the time. If you need the extra RAM free, use 2000. XP is a resource hog.
