'Sup Icrontic,

Dropped by to get help on a hardware issue after not visiting the site for a long long time and noticed an achievement for getting Icrontic into a new game.

DotA fans, listen up! A game developer known as S2 Games is making a game called Heroes of Newerth. It is basically DotA with (in my opinion) much better graphics as wells as some hero changes. The game is currently in closed beta, but luckily for you guys I have a beta key to spare. Since I am so nice I am giving away this beta key to the first person who replies telling me they are interested.

I will let you guys know when I get more beta keys!

Couple of folks on here already play (wax, nemikan) - don't think you'll spark an Icrontagion with that one.

Glad to see a gamer rejoin IC, though. What else do you play?

Ah, well. I still have an extra key if anyone is interested. I also play TF2, Left 4 Dead, Garry's Mod, StarCraft, and Dawn of War (via Hamachi >_>).

I enjoy Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 ruleset. I am currently playing in a campaign (using Fantasy Grounds II) and will be joining another one soon.

I play a few 2d fighters, especially MeltyBlood: Act Cadenza and Street Fighter III:Third Strike. Both games have over-the-internet multiplayer capabilities through certain programs.

Is Gary's Mod really considered a game though?

    >_> Of course it is. Well it's a multiplayer experience that differs from Half Life 2. Sure it's a Sandbox, but you can build a server a certain way to reflect a certain gameplay style. For example, there are pirate ship servers where you try to sink the other team's ship (a breakable prop) using anything from the cannons on your ship to swimming up to it and whacking it with your cutlass.

tl;dr: You can do a lot of shit in Garry's Mod with your friends. Therefore: game.

The game within Garry's Mod is largely screwing around with your friends. So it's like the Icrontic TF2 server, minus the explosives cart.

If your friend has keys to give away, you have to get him to invite you. After he puts your email address in the invite field, you'll get an email with the subject line "S2 Games" that contains your beta key as well as a link to the account creation page.

After you make your account you can sign in at beta.heroesofnewerth.com and download the client from there. Also, forums are located at forums.heroesofnewerth.com

Oooh... I just gave my last invite to my Calculus teacher. I'll let you know when I get my next set of keys. I'll check if my friend has any keys. I'm 90% sure I can still get you one.

How are you playing SFIII on PC? I'd LOVE to get into 3rd strike, but don't own appropriate consoles and I have a stick that works for PC

I play casually with friends using the nFBA emulator and Hamachi

You can find the appropriate ROMs here. The downloads section is temporarily down and will be back up in a day or two. If you're in a hurry you can also try here, but DaRoms is my personal favorite for any and all ROM/Emulator needs.

I've heard good things about GGPO, but I haven't tried it yet. All I know is that GGPO is P2P multiplayer whereas nFBA relies on a LAN connection via Hamachi. As for my input device, I used to use a Saitek P880 until the D-Pad broke off. Now I use a 3rd party Xbox 360 controller from GameStop.
