Biggest hard drive for this old laptop?

I'd like to know what's the largest size hard drive I can put in an old laptop computer of mine.

It's a Dell Latitude CPi-A366XT. It was new in January of 1999. 366 Mhz Pentium 2, 256 MB ram.

All the literature I found on it said 12 GB was the maximum size hard drive it could use and read, but I put a 20 GB drive in and it works fine on XP Home.

How big can it go? It's an IDE drive too. No SATA back then.

Safe bet is no larger than 127gb.

Yes, that's what I was thinking, with the 32 bit addressing problem. I certainly wouldn't expect anything larger than 127 GB to work.

Wasn't there 16 bit addressing at one time, and what was its storage limit?
