its supposed to speed up the booting procedure (up and down) by observing and organizing processes etc that are run while booting.

I tried it, after restarting it said it was optimising, but it just sat there, no CPU usage and no HD usage, so I have no idea what it thinks it was doing, but after 15 minutes I killed it anyway.

bootvis takes time to run from my experience(shouldnt be more that 15 minutes lol) .. and depending on your system in may or may not give a noticable performance boost

My machine boots within 10 seconds anyway, so I doubt it would be able to decrease that time. No idea why it freezes though.

Bootvis is a great little tool, it just optimizes your boot routine, much in the way some top dog defrag apps do.

Microsoft, almost immediately after releasing v1.3 of the tool, pulled all reference to the little app, claiming it does jack! 90% of people who used it, disagreed.

Eitherway, it's completely harmless, give it a try.

    Cheers
