I have used windows dvd maker without a hitch...til I got this new laptop.

When I choose a file to add to the disk I am told that the file is corrupt or is invalid. They work just fine...

I am running a Vista 64 bit Pavilion.

Upon Googling this issue I found a number of forums with the same unresolved question. Get some freeware app is the response. That's not a solution that's giving up. Can anyone help out here?

Getting a different app isn't giving up... if some piece of software doesn't work, find one that does.

That said, if I had to guess, I'd say that windows dvd maker probably just doesn't support whatever format of file you're trying to use. In which case, I'd suggest getting some software that supports more formats (avi isn't a format, it's just a wrapper).
