Word 2007 saving issues

edited September 2009 in Science & Tech
I am unsure whether this problem is specific to Word, as I may have experienced it before with other Office 2007 programs, but sometimes after working, I choose save, but nothing happens, and the document has not saved. When I click Save As, the browser box does not appear, and when I close and it asks me if I want to save, when I click Yes, nothing happens, but clicking No closes the document (as you would expect). This has happened before, but I believe this happened mid-way through my work as I was able to save prior to getting the first saving issue, which was when Word says that Auto-save had been post-poned, indicating that it could no longer save. I have had to save new work into Notepad to not risk losing my work. Restarting fixes the issue for a time. In a nutshell, Word no longer saves after prolonged use. I have the latest updates, Vista, and I believe this problem arose after installing the latest Office Service Pack.

As an Open Office user one thing I definitely don't miss about the Microsoft product is the requirement to patch it constantly.

Looking at your problem, I would honestly just recommend doing a full uninstall and reinstall of Word. I know its not an elegant solution, but I think that is likely going to be the best fix that involves the least detailed troubleshooting.

But what about the license? Wouldn't I be using one up?

Not if you are reinstalling on the same machine.

Your licence relates to the number similtainious installations. Unless you have an OEM copy of the software it doesn't eve have to be installed on the same computer as long as you remove it from the old PC before installing it on the new one and you only ever installed it on one PC at any time. You can re-install it as many times as you want.

It seems to have worked for the time being. I'll reply again soon about wether it's still working.
