Second Log In Prompt? Windows XP Pro

We recently laid off a bunch of people in my company and I suddenly became the go-to windows person - great, I suck.

All of our sales people have changed rooms/computers and are now having a few "issues" logging in.

After leaving the typical windows xp pro log in screen, the desktop begins to load and a box pops up prompting to log in to a user account which doesn't exist. All you have to do is hit OK with no password and windows loads but this bugs the person who uses the computer and they've asked me to remove it.

Is the computer/network configured to map network drives after login?

I really have no idea... The person who set everything up is now gone and we're trying to do what we can without having to call him. I feel like i've had this issue before and fixed it but I don't really want to play around on some slow, crap-filled computer with someone looking over my shoulder :X

Does this pop up before the user environment loads? Like does it do it before the applying settings bit or after all that is done? Could be a drive mapping, in which case you can look for any network drives permanently mapped through explorer. It could also be some backup routine that's trying to run. It may also be something else entirely.

It's before their environment loads but after the regular log in screen.

Sounds like a logon script to me.

Yep if it's happending between the normal logon and the user enviro it's almost certainly a logon script.

I assume you have a domain controller.
