ps3 controller only works with cord and doesn't charge

edited September 2009 in Gaming
yesterday i was playing WOW online and i was in a rush and turned off playstation while in a game.. so today i turned on pes09 to play with a mate and used the conrtoller i used yesterday and when i pressed the ps3 button to connect nothing happens even the 4 buttons dont flash at all, absolute nothing happens but when i connect with the cord it works perfect but doesnt charge or anything so i left it with the cord in for a while and when i took off the cord it stopped working again!!

does anyone know how to fix this? (also pressed the tiny reset button in the controller)

Did you try reassociating the controller with the PS3? It may have unpaired randomly.

Another alternative, however unlikely, is that the battery crapped out entirely. Doesn't seem like this would have happened in a day, though.

I mean disassociating it from the Bluetooth connection and re-pairing it, not just changing controller number - did you do that?

Hmm. There used to be a firmware option to do so in the PS3, but it appears to have been removed.

Do you have a friend with a PS3 that you could test the pairing on their console? That would simultaneously unpair it from your console and see if it's still capable of working wirelessly at all.
