Why is there a 2GB RAM limit on this laptop?

I have an HP DV6405US laptop, and it runs good. After getting HP to upgrade the motherboard to one with the GeForce 7200 GPU under their warranty recall program on this model, it even plays WoW pretty well with 2 GB RAM and Windows 7 build 7100. The GeForce 6150 GPU could not handle WoW very well even with the minimum video settings.

But I've read the specs on this laptop, and it says the maximum supported RAM is only 2 GB.

Why only 2?:confused2

Other laptops of the same age as this one can support 4 GB, so why can this one only take 2? Is this something in the BIOS that can be changed so it can take 4 GB? It takes DDR2 Sodimms, 200 pin.

It's a chipset thing. Nothing you can change.

It may be a BIOS thing, but flashing a bios is pretty iffy, so I wouldn't try it.
