I recently downloaded 2 albums from the internet, in mp3 format. when i try to drag and drop the songs into itunes, my cursor turns into the black circle with a diagonal line going through it, obviously meaning i cannot drag and drop these songs into the program
is there anyhting i can do? is there a way of checking if these files are actually mp3's? this is kinda pissing me off because i love this music! :(

iTunes will only import files that are .mp3, .mp4, and .aac. You can check the file types by going into the folder in which the file reside, right-clicking one of the problem files, and selecting Properties. There should be a "file type" field that will list the type of file. Alternatively, you could turn on file extensions by opening any Explorer windows and going to Tools -> Folder Options -> View. Uncheck the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types." All files will not show up with their extensions.

What type of files do you have?
