Something freaking the hell out of my computer

I have a very good computer, 3.5gb ram, intel core 2 duo E6850 3ghz, NVIDIA geforce 8800 GTS,
So first of all, why would it take me 23 minutes and 25 seconds to extract a .rar thats only 6 gb?
My harddrives were set in RAID a while back, and some tech guys changed it because it was causing problems, and after wards it went from taking about a minute to taking 23 minutes for a 6gb file to extract.

Also, the last few days my computer has been.. freezing up, a lot.
Example: MSN will freeze, I try to open firefox, I open task manager but it takes like 2 minutes to open, I close MSN, firefox opens when MSN is gone, then it freezes. etc.

I scanned with Kaspersky, it picked up a few viruses and supposedly got rid of them, but theres still all the problems I mentioned..
