As an very avid and semi-competitive (CAL baby!) CS player this is fantastic.
Pretty much anyone who enjoyed the original Counter-Strike - especially 1.3 and before - can attest that CS:S sucks hard. It's like they too a fantastic game that was highly competitive and actually took skill, then just dumbed it down so much it really wasn't even fun to play. Crappy player models, shitty physics, bad ported maps, random hit boxes - just thinking back to how bad CS:S is makes me what to stab a spork in my eye. I mean ffs they started developing a mod on top of CS:S, CS:S pro mod, in attempt to make it competitively playable. To my knowledge it was never really adapted though.
So, if this is anything remotely like the original CS, or even somewhere in between the original CS and CS:S it will be good.
The fact that the original CS creator is behind this already gives it some credibility.
I'll wait patiently for a release. Maybe it will push me to actually install steam again
MAN CS:S as disappointing. I still play around with it every once in awhile (I still enjoy playing cs_office on CS:S more than I did on CS). Every time you try to jump over a knocked to the ground file cabinet, it makes me want to yell out loud in frustration.
Ah yes, deagle+AWP whoring. This is the game that defined what it meant to whore a weapon and camp.
Though in the interview, Minh did say he is speeding up the pace of the game and making other efforts to remove such spam. Good deal if you ask me.
CS:S was my first FPS and it consumed my life for two or three years before I ever really tried anything else (including HL2). I loved it—I guess I didn't know better having not played 1.6—and this looks awesome!
I don't see anything wrong with CSS aside from a few annoying things too many sniper weapons the maps are too small for snipers. It could use some AI upgrading. some CS riot control gas, M79 grenade launchers. white camo for CT's.. at least make hostages be able to crouch so they can be rescued more easily. I have a list pages long of little things that could improve game-play. All these other mods get upgraded regularly. Like L4D, I'm sorry but I don't like ugly things rushing at my face it's probably why I never got married. I don't know about police dogs either. Whats next germ warfare? I think cs 1.6 is too cartoonish like TF2. Looks like I'll be down to playing with my self soon enough, which is actually a pretty good idea I'm out

My face when I saw this thread.
As someone who played CS back in Beta 7, CS:S was disappointing
