I'm not a member of the boycott but I won't be getting it until there is a price drop. L4D was fun for awhile and then it lost it's flare. L4D2 will probably be the same.
I picked up L4D on a 50% off special... I don't see why it should be any different with L4D2. It wasn't more than a couple of months before they put a weekend deal on the first one.
The first was easily worth the full price for me. Hundreds of hours of great fun. I'm less enthused about the sequel though, especially because of the mediocre DLC.
I'll never understand these boycotters. Oh no, I played the original for dozens of hours but ;_; it just wasn't enough. Keep boycotting fun games like L4D and soon enough we will have a world where all the games are Halo knockoffs because they are they only ones that make any money.

Don't worry, the boycotter's are some of their biggest fans, their pre orders are already in I bet.
Eh, I kinda fizzled on L4D lately. I really don't understand the disparity between what they've done with TF2 and the lack-luster support for L4D. It still has FUNDAMENTAL BUGS for christ's sake. If this were TF3 I'd probably scrape my pennies together.
And great, just in case it wasn't already hard enough to get 4 together for L4D, now we've fragmented into 2 versions.
I'm not boycotting it... I'm just not buying it because the whole thing stinks.
Feh, I've got 2 coworkers that are going to be buying l4d2, possibly a 3rd as well. This will actually be the first time I'll have 3 people I know to play with. I've pretty much always played with strangers in the original and 99% of the time I had fun. I'm not exactly worried about "splitting the community". I'm pretty sure most of the people that are worth playing with are probably itching to lay some axe into some zombie brain.
I really want to pre-order so I can play the demo before others and so I can just play the demo but when the last DLC made match making even worse I have trouble going through with it. However, the cars don't seem to get stuck on smooth pavement in Crash Course which is a big plus for me as soon as I connect to a game after 15 minutes of trying.
Valve has stated that "Those who pre-order the game (at participating retailers or via Steam) will obtain early access to the demo on October 27." Since Amazon is obviously a "participating retailer," I don't think there should be an issue with you getting access to the demo. I'm not quite sure how that will work at this point, but hopefully Valve will release the information as we get closer to the demo date.
Don't forget we have a L4D2 Group Buys Thread for those that want to get in on the pre-order at a discount. I know I'll be loading it and waiting to jump on late Saturday!!!
