Microsoft had to do something, still, it's not going to steer me away from Sun's Open Office. Its free, without advertisements, and better.

Open Office is REALLY good but seeing first hand how small incompatibilities between MS Office & Open Office in a research environment, MS Office is still the choice at work. Seeing that it's the defacto standard at work, I need the same at home to maintain the compatibility. A cheaper version with ads is a good way to help lower the cost for users but give MS some extra $$$.

I currently run the Office 2010 beta. I do it because I have to stay current not only for my job and its progressive users with prolific software tastes, but we are MS CP's and almost feel obligated to use it and promote it.

I also use Open Office since MS deprecated some file formats that I also need, which truly pisses me off. I know the old Works format will be deprecated in the next installment of Office again leaving OO to pick up the pieces.
