Hey everyone! I've been gone awhile, had cancer, kicked it's ass, finally...

Got a problem with a WD2500BB from '04. It's IDE and non-bootable, at least from my limited knowledge from memory:rolleyes:.

Is there a good program (floppy wise) that will allow me to access tons of data I need to get off of it? My mobo died and this was in it at the time.

Are there any new (hoping that there is) tools for such things nowadays?

:respect:Help me Thrax!!! Pity me Prime, Goad me Goat....Kanzefan?....help.....:respect:

MGK! :D Great to see you. I recommend hooking that drive up to the PC externally and running a free program called Recuva on it. :)

Hey Thraxy! How you doin bro?
Recuva 'eh? Will do. What do you know about one called Testdisk?
I was looking around in here and stumbled across that name as a good one.
In the meantime I'll DL Recuva.
    Thanks!

Testdisk is very good, but it's more complicated than Recuva. I always recommend Recuva first (nice, clean GUI) before pointing people towards command line tools.

Hey Prime! Long time no see bro!

    I'm not afeared of..of...command line tools...much...

Do I load the prog onto a flash drive and run from that? Or do I simply install it to the working internal drive and run it? I suspect the latter.

    Thanks! MGK

As long as the program is not running on the broken drive (or saving recovered files to the broken drive), you can run it from anywhere. :)
