I just bought and installed 2, 2 Gig ram chips in my dv9000 but it will not boot up to the password screen. I researched here and other places before updating and thought that if my system could not use all 4 gig then what it didn't use would just sit there idle and not cause any problems. If I and putting in to much ram will it cause this? Can I fix it to boot and use all the ram possible or do I have to just stick with a 1 gig chip and a 2 gig chip for the computer to work and boot correctly?

I am running windows vista home premium. Thanks for any help.

Try both sticks individually first. Does it work correctly?

I just tried both chips separately and it boots up just fine. It just won't boot with all 4 gig in. I tried the chips in different configurations in the slots with no success. It boots up to the musical chimes right before the password screen and the nothing else happens on the display. I can still see the harddrive light flashing and hear the hard drive but is seem to just stay put.
