Start bar has grown!

edited October 2009 in Science & Tech
So, yeah, long story short, I restarted my computer and my start bar grew. My screen resolution is at 1024x768, hasn't been changed, drivers are up-to-date as far as I know. Just bada bing, bada boom, it grew.

Here's a screenshot:

Everything else is normal. Icons, etc. Just the start bar is messed up. Any insight on this would be helpful.

Answers to avoid:
-It's not the resolution. I've already adjusted the resolution two notches to the left, anything to the right isn't supported by this monitor.

Thanks.

Right click the Start bar -> uncheck "Lock taskbar". Grab the top edge of it (it will turn into a resize icon when you get there) and try dragging it down to normal size. Let us know what happens.

I should've mentioned that one as well in the "Answers to avoid". It's something other than the standard user mix-up. I don't profess to know everything there is to know about computers, I do, however, know enough to build and repair them on occasion and know again that I've never seen a system do this before.

The taskbar itself is the only thing that is affected. Icons and RocketDock are still as they should be under 1024x768 resolution, as well as is the background. Nothing (to my knowledge, and it is my personal computer so I'm the only one with access to it) was added or removed prior to several shutdowns ago, and none of what was removed should have had an effect on the resolution or anything related to the visual display.

It appears that your quicklaunch icon size might be to blame. To see if this is the case, try the following:
    1. Unlock your taskbar temporarily
    2. Right click on the "resizer" bar that appears
    3. Select View
    4. Select Small Icons
    5. Lock your taskbar
