We have a USB printer which we need to have attached into our home network without going though one individual computer. We would like to plug the printer into a network switch and have it accessible by any computer on the network.

    Hello,

You need a network print server device with USB support or the printer itself needs a network port. You cannot add a network port to the printer, it needed to come with it already.

The other way is to connect it to 1 computer and then share the printer on the network. Why does it need to "not be connected to a single computer"?
