Buying a new monitor, advice needed

Hi all. I'm buying a new monitor, probably the Samsung P2370 23'', FullHD, 1920*1080. I've never actually seen this kind of monitor in practice so I'm wondering is the picture on this resolution 'dragged' in any way unnaturally in comparison to, for example a 1920*1200 res.? I'm also considering a Samsung T220 (1680*1050). I've read a couple of good and a couple of bad reviews about both monitors, so if anyone can shed some further ligh on this subject, please do. It will be greatly appreciated.

A 1920x1080 monitor shaves 10 pixels off the left and right side (of a 1920x1200) to maintain the proper 16:9 aspect ratio. You won't notice anything.

As for the Samsung T220, it's a 3/5 star monitor at best. The monitor has unavoidably poor ergonomics and bad color accuracy unless you own a calibration tool.

If you're going to get a 1680x1050 monitor, I suggest:

    Lenovo ThinkVision L220x**
    Iiyama ProLite B2206WS
    Hyundai W220D
    Dell 2209WA**
    ViewSonic VX2268wm**

If you're going to get a 1920x1200/1080 monitor, I suggest:

    Belinea o.display 24. 4.1
    Dell 2408WFP Rev02
    Dell U2410
    Fujitsu-Siemens SCENICVIEW P24W-5 ECO**
    HP LP2480zx**
    Hyundai W243D**
    Iiyama ProLite B2403WS
    LaCie 324
    Samsung SyncMaster F2380M**
    Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD
    Samsung SyncMaster T240HD
    ViewSonic VX2335WM

I've marked the best ones with asterisks.

If you have the money I think the Dell 2408WFP is one of the best LCD's on the market, imo.

The 2408's default gamut is noticeably red, and it cannot be adjusted. There's better.

Thanks Thrax for the extensive advice. Unfortunately, out of the ones you mentioned the only one I could find was the ViewSonic VX2268wm, the Samsung T240HD is too expensive for me and the P2370HD isn't available in the shops I've checked (in Croatia). That leaves me with the Samsung P2370 and the ViewSonic VX2268wm. Dell's are rare over here and when they're available the prices are just too much. I've read this review of the P2370, and it's not too bad, according to them.

Damn my limited options! If anyone has any further advice, I'd like to read it. Maybe someone has the ViewSonic or the Samsung models I mentioned in my previous post, or what it's like working, playing games etc. in 1920*1080, 1680*1050 and 1920*1200 resolutions?
