I should have also mentioned it's an optimization issue with MySQL, not data corruption or anything like that.
Update: I found a potential fix and have applied it. Cross your fingers and wait for the next crush.

#1 way to improve stability and reduce load on any server? Replace vBulletin with a less suck-tastic forum solution. Long live Icrontic v12!
