Win7-U networking hardware issue

For the last couple weeks, I've had an issue with my onboard network controller (nVidia Nforce). Whenever my system reboots, I'm unable to connect to the internet until I go into Device Manager (where the network controller is "working properly"), disable my network controller, then enable it. It doesn't cause any problems again until I restart or reboot again.

The first time it happened was right after a Java update, relevance unknown. Also may or may not be related to my Context Menu issue, which began at the same time.

I tried completely uninstalling the controller, and letting the system find it again, but that did not help. Any Ideas?

I've had some little buggy things with 7 too (amazing how much more patient I am given the fact that 7 runs like a deer) but not that one. Have you System Restored to before the java update? If that fixes it, what if you refuse the java update for a while, just as a test?

I have similar problem with an Atheros 802.11n network adapter. Once or twice a week, I need to disable and enable the adapter to make it connect again. But I was thinking that it was a driver issue not Windows 7. I just downgraded the driver to an earlier version and it is too early to know if the problem is fixed.

Yeah, sounds like a driver bug.

You could try out the networking troubleshooter (via the system tray icon). It might not have a permanent fix but I think I've seen it do something along the lines of disable and enable the adapter.

Update: This issue repaired itself sometime over the holidays.
