    Man, they'll give out patents for anything these days.

    I should apply for a patent on "the use of the mouth to create a sounding base in which contact between different sections of the mouth are required". In other words, consonants.

    This patent is absurd and I really hope it gets turned around. It's ridiculous that the patent office didn't consider it more carefully before granting them a patent on such an a wide mechanism.

    Doesn't this fail the obviousness test? I mean, episodic content has been delivered over the air-waves practically since radio was invented. That at least invalidates the core of their patent, and only leaves the on-demand aspects, which can't stand on their own.

    One would think so but apparently the patent office didn't think so. I know of two people who have now sumitted significant prior art on the issue so hopefully they are getting pots of material to fight it. The EFF is so essential for fighting for internet rights, I have so much respect for them.
