XP Device Management question

edited November 2009 in Science & Tech
hi,
I just did a fresh re install of Windows XP Pro with service pack 3 version 2002 on my machine.
for some reason I have 2 new drives with my other 3 that don't exist.

the device manager says they are healthy and 100% clean with unknown partitions.

they have changed the lettering of my drives and pushed my DVDs down the alphabet to G and H

also my DVD RW 's are showing up as CD roms now for some reason could this be an new problem connected to the new invisible drives?

Question 1...can I just delete the new false drives?
Question 2 ....Why are my DVD RW s showing up as CD Roms? what should I do to change them?

I should say that I did the lengthy re install and formatted the c drive for the re install.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Can you please post a screenshot of your disk management console? Go to start -> run -> type: diskmgmt.msc -> press [enter]. Screenshot this window and attach it to your next post. :)
