Partitioning for a new Windows 7 install

Hello. I'm currently using Win 7 RC 64bit, and I've partitioned my 640GB HD in two partitions: 25GB for Windows and the rest for my docs, music and programs. I've bought Win7 Home Premium 64bit (OEM) and I want to expand my 25GB partition to 50GB and install Win7 there. Can I expand it with the built in Disk Management tool, then during the install format the 50GB partition and install Windows there, leaving my music, docs intact on the second partition? I'm gonna reinstall my programs anyway.

If you plan on formatting your Windows partition anyway, I would suggest using the Disk Management tool to shrink your larger partition by 25GB then just delete the windows partition during the install process and make a new 50GB partition using the free space, format it and install there. Otherwise I'd suggesting using a boot disk (such as GParted Boot Disk) to shrink the data partition and expand the Windows partition.

You're probably right, ardichoke. Anyone else with some tips?
