    Its short, no external power connector required, should make a fantastic card for HTPC

    I'd say far overkill for a htpc.

    You might not need it because on board solutions are fine for HD video, at least the ones AMD and NVIDIA produce, but if you wanted to toss in a little gaming that card will get you there on most titles, maybe with some compromise, and still run cool enough efficient enough. I imagine it wont be long before one of the OEM partners fits a passive cooler on it, then it will be even better.

    Chart data for Radeon 5870 shaders looks to be missing a few 0's.

    I'd throw it on as a gaming HTPC. Would also be good upgrade for those dell/hp PC's with limited power/space.
