network drive missing

edited December 2009 in Science & Tech
I have an OLD Compaq armada e500 but it works like a champ still. However last week my LAN drive disappeared and I can't seem to get it back. I knbow that if I reformat my system I'll get it back however I lost the disk during my recent move. I really don't feel like buy a new setup disk so if some one could point me in the right direction and send me a link or 50 to DL a drive I'd really appreciate it. I'm running WIN XP Home service pack 2 version 2002. Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried remapping it?

If you can ping the machine where the network drive is located you should be able to map the the network share.

Typically the command from shell prompt is

    net use drive: \\address\share

    For example

    net use m: \\192.168.1.1\folder

    or

    net use m: \\192.168.1.1\c$

m: being the drive letter you want to associate on your e500.

Well I've tried everything I can think of to fix this problem and still it won't work. Any other ideas?
