Wow, I never thought I would hear that brand name again after the messy bankruptcy they had back sometime around y2k.
Packbell was big in my area since there was a tech call center here. I even got my first tech cert through packbell as an ISST (1999 equivalent of A+ with some cross over with CNA)
But it seems packbell still has the same issues they had a decade ago with power and switch issues, internal shorts and less then helpful customer service and tech support.
Wow, just looked at the whole Acer brand ownership thing....Acer owns eMachines, Gateway, and Packard Bell among others. Guess just finding out about this what I get for not caring about or following most brands. looks like Packard bell is big in China too...
back to the article focus....got to love the fire burning laptops
Down boy! Why do you hate them so much? Or is this some meme I've missed?
Christmas '95 I believe it was. One of our christmas gifts was a new family pc...a Pack Bell. New pc, windows 95, all this good stuff. My only real memories of it were my dad spending countless nights huddle over it troubleshooting a hard drive plagued by bad sectors and a mother board that didn't last more than a year.
Then just when you get it to the shop get it fixed, pack bell goes bankrupt, no surprise. Pieces of junk. Scarred my childhood. It's a wonder that I still got into computers after that.
Packard Bell made Pentium 2 computers, and computers older than that. I wasn't aware they made anything newer than that. Their name doesn't sound like something you'd see on a high performance gaming PC.

Still shocked to hear the brand name again.

This list maybe be inaccurate, but they nailed the #1 worst PC of all time.
