What Apple really should have done was watch Psystar for a while, check their sales numbers, etc, and see if there is a real market for what Psystar was offering.

If found to be there, Apple could have used Psystar (or bought them up) to leverage that demand into more sales of OSX into the hardware enthusiast market. These are people who typically don't need/use support, and would cost Apple little to no money in the long-term.

I think I'm going to snatch myself up a copy of RebelEFI before they stop selling it, as I've been meaning to give it a look for a while now.

In reading various articles about RebelEFI I came across a link to a Linux based bootloader called Chameleon that does the same and of course is free. Anyone had any experience with it?

RebelEFI actually has more to it, particularly drivers and a 'safe update' tool, which allows you to update the installed MacOS safely, without getting blown out of the water (this happens to a lot of hackintosh users).

Also, looks like they're holding off on selling RebelEFI for a while, as attempting to check out on Psystar's site just redirects to the home page. :(
