ICC is fun but super easy

So my guild has been chugging through ICC and we are full clearing the place both in 10man & 25man without being slowed down. While I think what Blizzard has done with the raid is awesome in its story/look/feel. The instance altogether is simple and offers no real challenge compared to early raid instances.

Now maybe it is just the first wing or maybe it is because we are not facing hard modes? But with the time line to even see hard mode content we will mostly be full Tier 10.25 which will only make running this instance even easier.

I am looking forward to both 10m & 25m hard mode runs as by the time we get there I think my tank will be sitting at 45-48k HP unbuffed :)

The hard modes will break guilds.

You say that but hard modes in ToGc and Ulduar didn't do that. I think it will come down to skill in general and not so much gear... as almost anyone can get the gear now if they spend a little time farming daily dungeons and do the 25main raid each week. T10 is in everyone grasp... Its the 10.25 & 10.5 that will be out of grasp.

They did do that before they were nerfed to oblivion to placate all the whiners and bads that pad the majority of Blizzard's bankroll.

I honestly feel Blizzard is setting up the hard core to move on to their new product that has yet to be announced.

They've no reason to do that while WoW is still going strong. WoW still presents the perfect test environment for their development ideas in an MMORPG setting. They're going to be sure the next one is exactly the experience they know people will fiend for, WoW's evolution is a perfect example of that.

Anyway, lets not get ahead of ourselves and dismiss the difficulty of raid content this early.

I've just been massively disapointed in the difficulty in WOW.
ICC was pretty damn easy, from what I've done so far. Havent done the hard modes yet, but ran them in frickin' t9's or less because I've been out of the raids recently.

And the leveling now.. its just.. stupid easy. You can solo SFK at 22. Without going any slower than fighting normal mobs. I has screencaps.

Honestly, Im just waiting for the return of the -challenging- MMO.

WoW... isnt it. But it does help pass some time.

And honestly.. Im getting tired of having to regear like a mofo dang near every single month, and people who just hit 80 being in gear equiv to mine or even better in a week, with barely a raid. It has seriously dropped the quality of players in PUGs.. which was horrible to begin with. -_-

World of Warcraft isn't the only MMO out there. If you want an MMO designed to be more challenging at the core, there are plenty of other games you can try that may well fit the bill - EQ2, EVE online, Age of Conan, the list goes on. WoW is simply the most popular MMO in the market at present, which doesn't necessarily make it perfectly suited to everyone's interests.

LOL EVE is definitely, in my taste and opinion, anyways, the best MMO in existence currently. But only for the pure PVP side of it. I honestly cant stand the PVE in EVE.

World, give me a blend between EVE and EQ1, kthnxbai. XD

Eq1 & 2 dungeon and raid content was much more challenging than wow. But look at how many people play those games compared to WoW. Eq2 has about a quarter mil subs while WoW has 13 mil. A majority of people, including myself, enjoy a game that you can jump in and out of, be able to easily gear up, and do some raiding. I just get bored with MMOs too quickly and have way more interests/responsibilities to dedicate myself to an MMO like i did in grade school. Some people dont, but there are options out there.

People want to play wow because it is a very polished well designed MMO and they want it to be very difficult to match their play style, but Bliz generates the revenue to make the game so great by making it accessible(easier) to a very wide range of players. Its a conundrum.

I just had an interesting conversation about just this. I'm very curious about how that might play out, I'd sure be interested.

I feel that they had the balance about perfect in early Burning Crusade, during 2.0 and 2.1.0. Then it just started going downhill as they made the game all about running easy heroics for badge gear that was updated for every new tier of content so that you could hit max level and start the current tier of content without any real experience whatsoever. I assume this is due to some influx of bads to the game when BC came out and possibly towards the end of Vanilla, which quickly has become the majority of WoW's player base.

I'm with Dare, if you really want a challenge in a MMO, you're not going to find it in WoW. EVE is the most open-ended fairly balanced MMO on the market right now. WoW is like training wheels, while EVE is a badass Harley with a sick paint job.

EVE is too much commitment for me, and their interface needs to be drastically improved - I don't like having to squint to read the text on a 24" monitor with the font set to the largest setting.
