Unfollow people in Google Reader?

When I first started using Google reader, I set it up to follow the shared items of a couple friends.

I didn't use it for a couple years, and now I have a very specific purpose that I want to use it for which does not include my friends' shared items, or anything else I decided to follow when I first set it up. I went through and removed all my subscriptions, including the ones to my friends' shared items.

Here's the thing:

The shared items for one of those friends is still appearing in my feed. I've looked everywhere, and cannot figure out where to turn it off. There is no one listed under "people I'm following", and when I visit that person's feed, I can see that it's actually only about one in every three to five of his shared items that end up in my feed. There is a Follow button at the top, so I assume that means that Google Reader thinks I'm not following him.

So, what's going on here? What am I missing? How do I get this friend out of my feed?
