OE Help

edited January 2010 in Science & Tech
Hope I'm in the right place. I cannot delete e-mail in OE, there are 6 messages that are causing the problem (I think) I cannot delet them and not OE is frozen, and I cannot do anything in it, can't click tool or compact folders, when I try to click on something I get a pop up saying program not responding, and I have to x out and close it down. Can anyone help me out of this mess?
Thanks

Make sure Outlook Express isn't running.

    go to:
    c: \documents and settings\username\local settings\microsoft\outlook express
you'll see a file called inbox.dbx. Rename that folder to inbox_old.dbx.

Startup Outlook Express you should see that your inbox is there but it's blank.

Go into tools import/export and import the emails back from inbox_old.dbx

You can then close outlook go tack to that folder and delete inbox_old.dbx

I have done what you said to do, and I can get as far as \local settings\ but that's as far as I can get I do not see microsoft\outlook express. am I in the wrong place? I have to go to bell practice in a few minutes, but I will be back around 7p.m. and will check back and see if you have sent me something more. I really appreciate what you have told me already.

    Thanks,
    Judy

    Try this location:

    c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\identities\big long string of numbersandletters\microsoft\outlook express.

Alternatively, go to your C drive and do a search for *.dbx it will show you the right path.

Yes sorry my bad it is in identities. It's been so long since I've used Outlook Express I forgot where it was. I had regular outlook on the brain.
